"(1) Regulate the construction of new buildings and building additions, fences, decks, patios, porches and accessory buildings to insure that all such construction is in compliance with the setback requirements of the Zoning Code.

(2) To provide for the enforcement of the State one- and 2- family dwelling code."

Dodgeville adopted the 2009 IBC, statewide. Note that adoptions usually come with amendments. So, it is important to review those amendments in addition to the unamended model code.

The State of Wisconsin adopted the 2009 IBC.  It applies to "code applies to all public buildings and places of employment" with certain exception.  See Wis. Admin. Code § 361.02. The Code defines "public buildings" and "places of employment." Id.  According to the Building Department's web page, the city follows the state building code.  An official ordinance expressly adopting the code was not found; however, Chapter 14, section 14.01 seems to imply adoption in its purpose statement.

The highest authority is reserved by the state. See Wis. Admin. Code § 361.03. However, local jurisdictions may adopt stricter standard that are not in conflict. Id.  Furthermore, local jurisdiction, including counties, may take on inspection and review responsibilities.  See Wis. Admin. Code § 361.60
